This fried pickle tasting was a total surprise to us, and we couldn’t have been happier about it! We were in the city to attend a presentation where Mama Frickle Chick was being honored, and we are so so proud of her! That being said, it was an excruciatingly long evening, and all 3 of us ducked out of the event early in search of food. The closest dining establishment in sight was Heartland Brewery, so we rushed the door and demanded food. (We waited to be seated and then ordered drinks.)
We were not expecting fried pickles to be on the menu, so we were psyched to be on an unintended frickle tasting. We ordered them right away, and this beauty came out of the kitchen faster than a group of hungry women fleeing a boring awards show.
They were really really good! Since Heartland Brewery is a bit of chain restaurant, we weren’t expecting this level of deliciousness, but they were awesome, and so was everything else we ordered. Fried pickles, alright!
Homemade and very crispy, yet juicy when we bit in. They were dill pickles, not sour, which was a nice departure from the norm. The plate was garnished with chives and sweet red pepper, which was a great touch.
5 average spears.
Just one condiment, a nice “cool ranch” dipping sauce.
Everything we ordered came out of the kitchen super fast! Fricks took about 5 minutes.
We didn’t seem to have one server, there were 3 or 4 different people helping us… and we had to ask more than one of them for an extra side of ranch, which never came.
$8.25 for each order.
These frickles were AWESOME! We loved them, but the price was a bit high and the serving size was a bit low. Lack of condiment options wasn’t great either, so we can’t give them a perfect score.
