Savannah’s Southern House just opened up in Yorktown recently. It’s a good looking space with a nice sized bar and two floors for dining. The only menu item I sampled was the fried pickles, and they were very good.
Although I went for the frickles, I was also looking forward to a having a beer, since the website advertises 10 beers on tap! I was bummed out when I got there to see 3 of the drafts were empty, and I wasn’t feeling the (mostly hoppy) other options. But I still got my frickles, super fast and super yummy, so I was a happy Frickle Chick!
This is Lyss’s favorite kind of fried pickle! Thick spears with the ideal crunchiness factor. It held together perfectly, and the pickle stayed put in the batter without falling out after each bite. Not an easy feat to accomplish. Two thumbs up.
8 big spears per serving.
The only condiment was a mustardy house remoulade, which didn’t go great with the frickles. Luckily there was a house BBQ sauce and hot sauce on the bar.
Our order came out in about 10 minutes.
The bartender was very sweet, and let me taste a few of the beers on draft.
$6.95 for the order, pretty standard.
Would definitely go back for a nice filling plate of frickles, suitable for sharing.
