WayDownTown- Provincetown, MA

The Frickle Chicks are back from vacation: tanned, relaxed, and raring to go with tons of frickle reviews. We’re most excited to start with one from our yearly vacation spot, Cape Cod. Each year we make sure to take a visit to Provincetown, and this time we tried a restaurant that’s new to us, called WayDownTown. We were going through fried pickle withdrawal from lack of frickles in Massachusetts, but thank god we finally found a place that could give us our fix.

Frickle destination finally located in Cape Cod.

Mama Bear Frickle accompanied us, and was delighted to become the celebrity guest spot for this post. Here she is posing with Bexy Doodles.

The view was incredible, and definitely enhanced our experience.

Let’s get down to business. Enough frickling around.

We may be slightly biased since we were in such dire straights for our favorite food, but although these were pre-frozen and then deep fried, they were still freaking awesome. Lyss loves a good beer batter, and these hit the spot. There was also a pretty sweet craft beer selection which complimented the frickles just beautifully. (New favorite, Cape Cod Beach Blonde.)

VACATION POST- Ellen’s Harborside

Standard

Located at: Historic T. Wharf, Rockport, MA 01966

Let me set the scene: sunshine, beach umbrellas, flip flops, and a handwritten sandwich board reading, “deep fried dill pickles” in tiny writing. What are the chances that Lyss and Bex would find frickles in one of the only four restaurants in sleepy downtown Rockport? I guess fried pickles just tend to follow us these days, (they like to feel wanted and know where they belong.) When Lyss and Bex headed up north to Rockport for a long weekend in the sun and wound up with three days of rain, we found a deep-fried glimmer of hope at Ellen’s Harborside Restaurant. The whiteboard of specials was propped outside the entrance, and we zeroed in on the appetizer of the week. Turns out, Rockport isn’t so bad, even in the rain.

Frickles in paradise, heaven on Earth with an onion slice

These frickles were soaked in a jalapeno brine which we LOVED! They were beer battered, and we are happy to report that the breading stayed put after we took a bite. We both really liked them, but agreed that there was just something missing that we couldn’t put our finger on.

Serving Size:        Whole Pickle = 4

5 medium sized spears.

Condiment Selection:       Pickle Chip = 2

Sweet chili dipping sauce was served, and although we both love it with Chinese food or french fries, it totally clashed with the frickles.

Wait Time:      Whole Pickle = 4

We had to wait a while for a table and ended up giving in and sitting at the counter, but we put our frickle order in ASAP, and they were served in about 10 minutes.

Service:     Whole Pickle = 4

Price:      Pickle Chip = 2

5 pieces for $6.99. Pretty steep.

Overall:     Pickle Spear = 3

Without frickles and scrabble, we may not have survived the 3 rainy days of vacation.
